Series 2 Land Rover Budget Restoration - We are up to day 18 of the Land Rover Series 2 restoration 10th August 2013

Ok, day 18. Think we still have about another 2-3 weeks on the restoration yet. Don't think it will be finished for the end of August 2013 lol.

We had to clean the tub again and that was a task in itself lol. The underneath of the tub had to be wire brushed to get all the rubbish off and the bits of rust. It is a good thing we have enamel paint that will help to protect the body work from rusting any further. It seemed like it was taking forever to get it clean and ready for painting. But we did it and the first coat of paint is on.

First coat of enamel paint. Black on the underneath and Green for what is seen under the wing

You can see how good the paint makes the bottom of the tub look. It is in pretty good condition

Other side of the tub. Second coat of paint is on and looking good so far. Just need to do the body colour over the green undercoat.

I love this paint as it has a gloss finish and makes everything look clean and tidy.

The badge from the back of the tub has been clean and repainted. The silly man that had my 'Jane-May' before me had painted the whole badge is a err silverfish paint. Now the badge looks how it is supposed to look. Black and silver.

Looking pretty in black and silver

You can just make out that the badge has Solihull on it. Needs to be cleaned up to show that off better.

We still have to bring up the wording in the corners, but the badge is the colour it is supposed to be now.

We would have got a lot more done today, but we made a BIG mistake. We went to the Garstang Auto Jumble. Well that is what it is advertised as. When we got there, the queue to get out was longer than the getting in queue. Hmm, I hear you say. Why was everyone trying to get out. Well the answer to that question is......................................................................................................................................

It was not an Auto Jumble. It was all Motorcycles and parts for Motorcycles. It had taken us and hour to get there, we got there 30 minutes after it had opened and it was disappointing to say the least. Well, that is all I can say and still be polite. So, if you are looking for parts for you classic car or just parts for your everyday car, Don't go to Garstang Auto Jumble. It is a waste of time and money to get there. If you need to get car stuff, go to Skipton.

Well, I am shattered after an exhausting day we have had. I have wasted petrol and money go to a Jumble that was not what I wanted.

But at least we did get some more work done on 'Jane May'. All the metal trim has been taken off the tub now. I have started to paint it all silver again, but forgot to take photos. Doh lol. I will take tome tomorrow for you to see. Yet again, it is late and I have only just got the last 2 days work on my blog. It is now 1.50am and I think it is time for bed.

Don't forget to look tomorrow night to see what we have been up to with the restoration of my gorgeous Series 2 Land Rover 'Jane-May'.
