Day 47 and Day 48 ( 5th and 6th October 2013) of my Budget Restoration of my Series 2 Land Rover

Day 47

While we are waiting for the refund from '*addocks', we are getting a couple of other bits done. The exhaust is here and we are fitting that and doing the last little bits for the brake system. Like fitting the last of the brake hoses and stuff.

The exhaust thankfully is the right one. It was not that expensive so we bought a whole exhaust system. So Paul got to work fitting the exhaust. It looks really good.

It is nice to have a shiny new exhaust system on 'Jane-May'. This means we are a little bit closer to the end of the stuff we have to buy to complete the restoration. Yippee

The final p-clips for the brake lines had been fitted and the last of the brake hoses are on now too. We have been busy with the black paint too LOL. The pedals have been painted and so have the air vent pipes for the heater. They look so much better now that they are black and they don't look so old now. LOL
Nice black pedals

Heater pipe vents

You can also see on this photo that the steering column has also been painted black again. As have the outer parts of the clocks.

Shiny black bits on the engine

This makes everything look so much better

As you can see, there are a few bits that have now been painted black. It just tidies everything up and makes it all look so much better. Don't you think?

Day 48

The weather is such a pain just now. It is wet in the morning and then dry in the afternoon, or the other way around. So we are working in between showers. That is the problem with the good old British weather. You never know what it is going to do. But back to the restoration

The last of the bits for the exhaust are now done. The brackets for the exhaust mountings have been done and the exhaust is now in place properly. There has been some more painting, this time silver. I think the engine is looking really good now, with some newly painted silver bits. LOL

Nice new bracket and exhaust fitted on Near side (left)

Another new bracket on the Drivers side (right) and the exhaust is in place properly now

These photos show that the exhaust is all fitted and looking really good on 'Jane-May'

Now for the nice shiny silver bits LOL.

Had to put our initials on the chassis. These are mine

The vent controls (that open the vents) have now been painted silver

Pauls initials on the chassis

It is amazing how much time the little things take to do. Paul said I was a big kid painting our initials on the chassis. I said that we had to leave our mark on 'Jane-May'. He said doing the restoration was leaving our mark. I didn't agree LOL

Well that is it for days 47 and 48. I still have days 49, 50, 51 and 52 to update you with yet. So I will get to work on them now LOL

Oh, we are still waiting for the refund for the brake drums from '*addocks', they take the money quick enough, but have been messing us around with the refund. I will tell more on Day 49
